Beauty School Drop-out

I have a confession to make. I am a beauty school drop out and I give my daughter pedicures in the kitchen sink.

Is it weird that I think a not quite 4 year old should have beautifully moisturized feet that smell of lemon verbena and expertly painted sparkly toenails? Maybe. But I'm a Girl and the apple apparently doesn't fall far from the tree. Yesterday at her appointment at the cancer centre, one minute she was standing in the exam room wearing only a diaper, the next minute she had donned a disposable medical face mask like a bikini top. We all laughed at her natural fashion sense. Incidentally, a few minutes later she also tried to make a stylish cape out of a blue disposable bed pad. Coupled with her hot pink knee socks and jazzy suede sneakers and the fact that she wouldn't stop running around the room, she looked like a tiny superhero.

But back to the pedicure....it may indeed be peculiar but she loves it and it's a blessed 10 minutes when she actually sits still! She swishes her little feet around while we mull over important issues like what's going on with our economy, who will be the next person eliminated from American Idol and of course what colour she'd like her toes painted.

Roll the video! (Listen for her big new word: basketball!)

OH my goodness, she is a cutie.....
I love pedicures!! Wanna come over to my house?? My 15 yr old daughter just recently volunteered to watch Daniel (I should have been known something was up!) when he came back to me, his toe nails were painted a pretty bright neon orange! He was so proud of them!! Took dad until the next day to notice and then it was promptly removed!

I can't even begin to find the words to descibe how cute that video is!!!!!! Basketball sounds wonderful too - I can't wait to hear it in person.

Hey, if I can manage to hop up on your kitchen counter and soak my feet in your kitchen sink, will you give me a pedicure too? ;0

She IS a tiny superhero - and a lucky one at that. I can't imagine that every superhero has a mom who understands the importance of a good mani/pedi.

Hope the visit to the clinic brought good news.

Hi Kara, sorry that it says grandma and grandpa at the top here.....but I still haven't mastered the switch yet.
Kasia is just tooooooo cute to go. Don't you feel like nibbling on those cute little toes???Love her new word! I hope that all went well at the clinic.
Bennett's grandma and grandpa

Hahah...Barbara, I forgot to mention the sign in the kitchen that says "You must be less than this tall to sit on the counter". Sorry!

And Julia, you're right..she IS indeed a tiny superhero. Thanks!

Her appointment went really well and these days cancer is usually the last issue on the list - because it seems to be (and we hope it is) gone forever and ever.

Kara, I might want to double check with that sign the next time I'm at your house. I'm actually much shorter than I appear!!! The thick unruly hair gives several inches!

OK, that is totally adorable. I think it is awesome that you are giving her pedicures, she SO deserves to be pampered! Funny, I have never thought to try one on my four-year-old, but I think I will! I go to get pedicures during the summer only, my favorite pampering.

I am glad the appointment went well.

Maybe she be forever cancer-free.

What a darling! I think it is EXCELLENT that you share pedicures with Kasia. I can't WAIT until I can do the same with Miss Sydney! Great word!!
